Where have all the updates gone???

Hi moms and dads.  I just wanted to say SORRY for my lack of posting the past week and a half!  I have been feeling a little under the weather and by the time your little cuties go home, I can't manage a whole lot more.  That on top of my missing cord to upload pics from my camera and the missing memory card and we have a perfect storm of excuses.

I promise to get myself together soon and get back on top of showing you how cute your kiddos are during the day!

One Big Happy Group

Today was the first day of all kids at the house.  It went even better than I expected.  I'm even more tired than I thought I might be. : )  I learned what to do and what not to do in the future.  I'd call all that a huge success!

The babies actually entertained each other all day.  And they both napped at the same time both morning and afternoon.  This afternoon I actually had all five kids napping.  HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN!?!  I'm just going to call myself the kid whisperer.  And knock on wood that it actually happens again at some point while we're all together. : )

OK, enough about me.  Here's some cute pictures.  We didn't do a whole lot of "activity" time today.  The kids were waaayy too busy playing together.  Activity-shmactivity.

All these girls really tuckered Jordan out.  I gotta find that kid a boy to hang with!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

So far this week we we've made Shamrock People and Leprechaun Pudding and colored about every St. Patrick's Day picture one could print from the internet.  We even cut some into pieces and then glued them back together as puzzles.  But the piece de resistance was this adorable little "Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow" planter that I found on Amazing Moms.  The kids {loved} it and were so proud of their final product.  Unfortunately, I was not on my A game this week and forgot to take pics of some of the kiddos with their pots but here are the few that I did capture.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone.  I hope you had a great one!

Lots of Photos

I wasn't feeling so hot today so we watched a movie and did a lot of coloring.  Here's some photos of the kids being cute.  They were so good and really entertained themselves well today.  Thank God kids are so easily entertained!

Happy Johnny Appleseed Day!

One of my "preschool resources" websites marked today as Johnny Appleseed Day.  I can't find it on any other calendar, so I hope they were right because we spent the whole week doing seed related projects.  Oh well, at least the kids are too young to realize it if I was wrong.

I know I said I wasn't going to torture you with the daily activities around here, but they're just too cute and I'm just too proud of the kiddos for all their creativity and overall cuteness.

Today we planted flower seeds in a miniature green house and hopefully sometime in the next couple of weeks we'll have little starters.  And if that works out well, we'll be doing all sorts of fun things with these little plants.  Jordan and his adorable sidekick planted 5 types of flowers today.  I'm saying a little prayer that this works, because if it doesn't they are going to be totally devastated!

I got this tray of mulch 'pods' for six bucks at Wally-World and the seed packs were 20 cents each.  Such a bargain for a half hour of entertainment and photo ops.

Here are my little cuties!

(Don't get me started on Jordan's outfit du jour)

All the while Baby D was happily playing and staying out of the dirt.  Such a sweetheart!

Build Your Own Pizza

Today's menu called for Bagel Pizza.  I had a few extra minutes during the babies' nap time this morning and decided to just make the pizza dough myself.  (Thank you, dad, for my incredible Kitchen Aid!)  So I made a whole wheat dough and left it to rise for lunch.   When it was time for lunch prep I rolled the dough into mini pies and called the kids in and let them build their own pizzas.

The kiddos dipped into bowls of sauce, cheese. olives and pepperoni and created their masterpieces.  It was so fun to see their personalities really come out while they were creating.  Here's a few photos of the process and finished products.  Another super-easy activity and a great way to inspire the kids to eat a healthy lunch.  (Salad and fruit were served as sides.)

We're up and RUNNING

Today marks the first successful day of Home Away from Home!  Two of the first four children were here having tons of fun, and I found myself wishing the other two were here too. (They start in a couple of weeks).  There were a few moments in the day that I knew if both girls were here they would have had tons more fun.  I did let Elle play hookie from school to celebrate the grand opening though.

Here's the low down on what we did today.  (Don't worry, I won't do this everyday)  : )

Tons of coloring, singing, dancing, pretending, puppet showing and overall silliness.  And somewhere mixed in there we made bird-seed feeders for our neighborhood birds that thought spring was here, only to be smacked in the face by a blustery cold front.   It was a super-easy craft that the kids LOVED.

Even the baby was thrilled.

And it was a good thing Elle was home to help hang them on the trees.

(It was way too cold for her to be outside in a tanktop!!!)

And here's the finished product.

Jordan got a little hungry.

SO all in all, we're happy to be playing together.  It was a seriously fun day!
