Keli's Bio

Hello, and welcome to Home Away from Home childcare.  If you're visiting this page, I hope you're considering home-based childcare for your children.

I'm a 33 year-old wife and mother of two wonderful and energetic children.  Up until about 2 years ago I stayed home with my kids and ran a business from our home in the Seattle area.  We moved to this side of the state for my husband's job and I went to work full-time at Big Bend Community College.  I recently decided to return home with my kids and provide the care for others' children that I felt mine were lacking in traditional daycare.

I have worked in an educational environment for a total of nine years, mostly with young adults.  Aside from being a mom, I also have experience working with young children in a child care setting and being a nanny in my late teens and twenties while going to school.  I am currently researching the best curricula to use in order to stimulate children to learn and grow as they play and have fun.

The hardest thing about working outside the home was leaving my kids at daycare.  My son cried every morning that my husband and I dropped him off at daycare for over a year and a half.  While I know this can be 'normal', it was just too much for me to handle.  My goal is to provide the kind of care for your child that they feel is a loving and nurturing home with tons of fun and creative activities.  I hope to provide a haven where children will want to come and play and learn.
